Submerged arc furnace transformer is a transformer widely used in submerged arc furnaces, mainly used for calcium carbide furnaces (HC), ferroalloys (HT) and yellow phosphorus, corundum, pesticides and other submerged arc furnace transformers.
Its characteristics include continuous and stable load, low impedance voltage, more voltage regulation levels, smaller level difference, and strong overload capacity. Its divided into two types: on-load and off-excitation voltage regulation. Generally, the first few levels have constant capacity output and the last few levels have constant current output. In addition, the use of single-phase transformers can make the power transfer more balanced, reduce power loss, and improve the power factor of the furnace operation.
When selecting the power of the submerged arc furnace transformer, multiple factors need to be considered to ensure that the transformer can meet the power supply requirements of the SAF.
First, the rated power of the submerged arc furnace needs to be determined. Usually, the rated power of the submerged arc furnace will be listed in its technical parameters.
Consider the load factor of the submerged arc furnace during actual operation, including the starting load and the maximum load. The ore-heated smelting furnace may require higher power at startup than during normal operation, which needs to be fully considered when selecting the model.
The efficiency of the transformer also affects the selection of power. Usually the rated power of the transformer should be higher than the rated power of the ore-heated furnace to compensate for the loss. The commonly used efficiency is generally above 95%.
When selecting the power of the transformer, adding an appropriate safety margin (usually 10%-20%) can avoid the impact caused by load fluctuations.
Ensure that the operating voltage of the ore-heated furnace matches the rated voltage of the transformer to avoid equipment damage caused by voltage mismatch.
If the use environment is special (such as high temperature, humidity, etc.), it is necessary to select a transformer model that adapts to the environment, which may affect the power selection of the transformer.
