The induction furnace frequency is a key parameter in its operation. It directly affects the penetration depth, heating efficiency and applicability of the induction melting furnace to different materials.
Low-frequency induction furnaces are usually used to melt large workpieces with deeper penetration depth, while high-frequency induction furnaces are suitable for small pieces or surface quenching and heat faster.
Induction furnaces are divided into two categories: induction melting furnaces and induction heating equipment. The former is used for melting or heat preservation of materials, and the furnace charge is finally in liquid state; the latter is used for heating materials, including uniform heating of the whole material, surface heating or local heating.
The choice of frequency needs to be determined according to the specific application scenario, material properties and heating requirements to achieve the best heating effect and production efficiency.
The frequency characteristics of IF smelting furnaces are mainly reflected in the following aspects:
Low-frequency induction furnace (110 kHz): suitable for melting heavy metals and large workpieces, with a deeper penetration depth.
Medium-frequency induction furnace (10100 kHz): a more commonly used frequency range, suitable for heating general metals and alloys, with higher efficiency.
High-frequency induction furnace (above 100 kHz): used for rapid heating and surface treatment of small workpieces, with shallow penetration depth but rapid heating.
Although high-frequency IF heats quickly, it heats unevenly and is suitable for surface heating or quenching.
Low-frequency induction furnaces heat evenly and are suitable for large-scale smelting and thick workpieces.
High-frequency induction furnaces usually have higher equipment investment, but the overall cost may be reduced due to improved production efficiency.
Low-frequency furnaces are relatively low in cost and simple to maintain, but their efficiency and flexibility are limited.
Melting furnace of different frequencies are suitable for different materials. For example, low frequency is suitable for cast iron and high-alloy steel, while high frequency is suitable for light metals or alloys such as aluminum and copper.
High-frequency induction furnaces have relatively low heat losses, which helps save energy and performs well in small-scale production.
