A high carbon ferrochrome furnace is an industrial equipment specially used for smelting high carbon ferrochrome. High carbon ferrochrome is an important iron alloy. Due to its high carbon content (usually between 4% and 8%), it has unique physical and chemical properties and is widely used in stainless steel production, tool steel manufacturing and other fields that require improved wear resistance, hardness and heat resistance of steel.
The working principle of high carbon ferrochrome furnace is based on electric furnace smelting. In this process, qualified raw materials such as chromium ore, silica and carbonaceous reducing agent are added to the furnace according to a certain proportion of ingredients. Through a high voltage power supply, generally from the submerged arc furnace transformer, short network system and electrode holder system, the electrode is inserted into the charge for submerged arc smelting. Under the high temperature generated by the electrode, the chromium and iron oxides in the charge are reduced by carbon to generate high carbon ferrochrome and slag.
During the smelting process, continuous feeding is required and intermittent iron tapping is required. The molten iron and slag flow into the ladle and slag pool respectively. The molten iron is poured, crushed, and finished before being quantitatively packaged and stored, while the slag is cooled by water quenching and transported away for processing.
The mechanical part of the high-carbon ferrochrome furnace is mainly composed of the furnace shell, semi-enclosed low smoke hood system, electrode holder system, short net system, smoke exhaust system, material distribution system, material unloading system, hydraulic system, pneumatic system and electric furnace cooling water system. Among them, the electrode holder system can choose a combined holder or a pressure ring holder to meet different smelting needs.
The furnace lining is a key component of the high-carbon ferrochrome furnace. It is made of materials such as magnesia bricks, magnesia knotting materials and high-alumina refractory bricks to ensure the high temperature environment and reducing atmosphere in the furnace.
The smelting process of high-carbon ferrochrome is relatively complex, and it is necessary to accurately control the proportion of various raw materials, smelting temperature and time and other parameters. The quality of raw materials has an important impact on the quality and output of high carbon ferrochrome, so the procurement and inspection of raw materials should be strictly controlled. During the smelting process, attention should also be paid to the stable operation of the blast furnace and the safety specifications of the iron and slag operations.
In addition, a large amount of slag will be produced during the smelting process of the high carbon ferrochrome furnace, which can be used to make cement, building materials, etc., thereby realizing the recycling of resources.
In summary, the high carbon ferrochrome furnace is the key equipment for smelting high carbon ferrochrome. Its working principle and structural characteristics determine that it can efficiently and stably produce high-quality high carbon ferrochrome.
