Submerged Arc Furnace Busbars (Short network) is an important equipment for transporting low voltage and strong current. The power loss of the short-circuit resistance itself increases the busbar temperature. Moreover, the short-circuit busbar furnace surface will generate high-temperature radiation, and the busbar contact points will often oxidize due to excessive temperature, or even partially melt.
In addition, the busbars operates in a harsh environment, and coke particles, dust and other objects often short-circuit the positive and negative poles of the busbar, causing electric furnace failures. Therefore, the maintenance of the short-circuit must be strengthened, and the following points should generally be noted:
(1) Try to avoid open arc operation, otherwise the high-temperature radiation heat of the open arc will not only increase the short-circuit temperature, but may even melt the electrode components.
(2) Regularly use compressed air to remove dust attached to various parts of the short-circuit to ensure that the various parts of the short-circuit can dissipate heat well.
(3) Always pay attention to whether the cooling water is unobstructed and grasp the temperature changes. The inlet water temperature should not exceed 25°C and the outlet water temperature should not exceed 50°C.
(4) Regularly measure the temperature of various parts of the short-circuit, which should generally not exceed 70°C, and the contact point temperature should not exceed 10°C higher than other parts.
(5) For electric furnaces that use high-voltage current to control the lifting and lowering of electrodes, when operating at a lower tap voltage level, it is important to operate at a high-voltage current value equivalent to that voltage level. The high-voltage current value at the original voltage level must not be used, otherwise the transformer will be overloaded at low voltage. Frequent overloading should not cause the conductor temperature to be too high or even damaged.
(6) In conjunction with regular maintenance of the electric furnace, all contact surfaces of the short-circuit system should be disassembled, their oxide layers removed, and the solid parts that must be replaced should be replaced.
(7) Among the multiple parallel branches of each polarity of the busbars (short network), if one branch is repaired due to damage, the contact surfaces of other branches must be repaired at the same time. Otherwise, a newly replaced or repaired branch will be damaged rapidly and continuously due to its smaller contact resistance than other branches and will be overloaded with excessive current.
